Cold Dark Days of Winter
Made during lockdown in the UK, Mendip Folk Choir from Cheddar, singing The Cold Dark Days of Winter, written by choir leader Issy Emeney. Many thanks to David Thomas for brilliantly engineering the whole thing. We can't wait to be back singing together for real.

The Last Tommy
Переглядів 1,2 тис.3 роки тому
The Last Tommy by Issy & David Emeney was written by Issy in 2009 shortly after the death of Harry Patch, England's last fighting Tommy. Slightly ironically in these days of Covid, the song celebrates the freedom we enjoy today thanks to men and women like Harry.

Written by Issy while on holiday with her family in July 2014 just after the Air Malaysia Flight 17 atrocity, which coincided with the centenary of World War 1. MH17 was shot down in the Ukraine over a field of sunflowers and all of the 298 passengers, including 80 children died. No-one has taken the blame for this crime. Performed here by Issy & David Emeney with Moor Harmony folk choir. Record...

Greetings from the UK. I hope you enjoy this short video made in a village hall near Bristol, England. Check out my other video Flatfooting 2014 on my youtube channel. Thanks for watching. Issy
It's actually called squall dancing originally.
I always come back to your videos, love to watch you dance!! Thank you for sharing, makes this old woman happy!
Thank you so much Margaret.
Very mush like tap dancing😂
Where can you learn this style of dancing?
I'm in Southern England so not very helpful I'm afraid. This style of solo flatfooting isn't very common in these parts. Hope you find somewhere.
Wonderful dancing. Looks effortless. Such skill
Thanks!
Are those wooden soles on her shoes? Is this Welsh or Appalachian?
Those are metal taps, but I more often wear hard leather soled shoes, which is more authentic. The style is Appalachian but with influences from step dancing traditions from all over the world.
Brought me here...ua-cam.com/video/RdgVs5G16G0/v-deo.html the wormhole that is YT in 2024
Most any kind of dancing is fun and you do this one so we'll. Thanks for sharing. My dad's mom was born in Bear holler Kentucky. I wish I knew about her life and families. Do they do this kind of dance back there?
Thank you Kathy. I'm in England so not sure about Kentucky, but it's sort of on the edge of the traditional flatfooting region. There are many different styles of 'step dancing' so most regions probably have their own form of traditional dance.
Tap dancing, but country.
Esti Fantastica... Puritatea fiintei umane ...You are Fantastic... The purity of the human being...
Bravo
Yes nice video
AND.......from what I've been reading, this kind of footwork is VERY good for promoting bone density!!!!
I hope so - I'm have a bone density scan on Monday! In theory you're right though, it's pretty high impact.
Beautiful.
Excellent! What is the main difference between Flatfooting and Tap Dancing? They look very similar.
Heathen urbanite females learn how to twerk. Family ask me why I prefer to live in a small town. It's not a mystery, not to me.
Thankyou. That was very nice. My Regards Mr. Dominic James Austin.
Thank you Dominic. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Check out my other flatfooting video on my channel
Now that, ladies and gentlemen, is amazing. The footwork, splendid in detail, was perfectly executed. Great job!
thanks you so much @marylyn66. You are very kind. Glad you enjoyed it anyway. Have a look at my other flatfooting video
We always called this clogging. Flatfooting was something much different in WV and VA.
Dancing seems as natural for you than walking. Bravo from friggin France.
Thanks so much.
Formidable. Et si naturel.
This is a beautiful song and so well done.
Thanks Joseph. Glad you like it.
FANTASTIC !!! NO COMPUTERS , NO MUSIC FOR IDIOTS, LIKE TECHNO , or HOUSE ( JUST NOISE, NO MUSIC ) for BRAIN WASHED.
Such an amusing and relatable song. 😊❤
Thanks Gary
@@IssyEmeney 👍
I believe the style came from Ireland,Scotland and England many years ago a form of step dancing
Acestea sunt valorile pe care Umanitateatea TREBIE SA LE PROMOVEZE... CRIMINALII DE LA DAVOS TREBUIESC BAGATI LA INCHISOARE PE VIATA
Jesco can't touch that ! Very nice
See @rikblak996 dancing in Galway for a comparison. It's lovely to see old traditions survive. ❤
Very similar to Irish damhsa ar an sean nós. Sean-nós dance is characterised by its "low to the ground" footwork, improvised steps, free movement of the arms, and an emphasis upon a "batter" using an 8 beat count.
Супер, спасибо большое!!!! 2:14
We need more people like her. God bless 🙏
Wow. I'd love to learn how to do this.
I watch this every once in a while especially when I'm feeling down. Always makes me smile and feel better.
Blessed by the al gore rhythm
Oh my show us how! Pretty please we ought to be able to cheer up our days with a fun exercise whenever we go into the kitchen...sod the chores. It's a pity dancing is now a hobby or a business and not something we learn as part of everyday life like people once did, everyone taught eachother and it was expected everyone knew how to dance even if they didn't want to.
Amazing. Such talent.
❤ South Carolina, USA here! 🙂
You and I can dance anyday❤
Something about the way she moves makes me feel like weeping
It's like the English version 3 wooden crosses
"Great big girls now"
Great song and scenery
Sing it
Great song thanks
I love it

I really love it! You are a great dancer ❤
She is just amazing. Love watching her.
I love hillbilly women!
I live on the flatlands of Somerset in England. Not many hills here!
That looks like yep. Not the old flat foot
Love watching these!
